book searching新方式
上次講可以透過上網利用Barcode (“iPhone’s redLaser app+Library Information“) 尋找圖書.原來利用圖書封面(book cover)一樣可以找到圖書. 其中一款Android app “Shopper” 可以使用Google search by Image 影片中不止介紹了image search,還有voice search,不過voice search的例子是尋找想要買產品,但不知道可不可以尋找圖書? See also: [Android 小軟體] Shopper 用手機掃描書籍、CD、DVD「封面」，快速搜尋、購買出版品 by 重灌狂人

iPhone’s redLaser app+Library Information
原本這個RedLaser軟件在iPhone內是用作查詢產品資料. (片段一直展示利用產品barcode可以透過iphone’s redLaser尋找產品資料.沒時間的話,看看頭幾個示範便可) WorldCat將這個功能用作於圖書館館藏上.這概念是只要手拿一個iPhone,像拍照段拍下館藏內的barcode e.g. Book’s barcode,便可以透過Google查出TheFind系統內那間地區圖書館有此書,還提供圖書館地址和電話. 這項功能的確是一個偉大的發明, 也再一次証明了Google Search Engine的強大威力, 同時也展示了iPhone apps令人感覺有無所不能的功能,更重要的是圖書館資料透過Google可以發揮更大作用! BibIndex error again
又一次Bibindex error!!! 當ah sir為我們努力尋找那個record出現問題時,那一刻我已做好最壞的打算,將site內所有setting做了backup,因為救不了bibindex就要reset site.一齊重新開始… 之前那次因為在testing階段,所以setting做得很少,這一次我們大家已下了很多功力,用了很多腦力和時間再加心機,不希望最壞的結果會發生. Ah sir幫我們找到了No.133 record有4個856, normally應該在XML只有2行856,另一個video的record雖然有問題,但應該不是”原兇”. 我deleted No.133 record 4個856中多了的2個,同時加入delete的control code令它在site內消失,我知道它並沒有真正的消失,但我只能做到這樣(2個方法:1. 於site page “BibEdit”正常刪除 2.如record因XML已錯誤無法於site page正常顯示,便到到putty找出record,我會使用nano editor將它加入delete的control code). 但還是bibindex於putty執行時還是Error,最後ah sir又出手. 幸好,沒事了!

Ideas of photo output 2
1. New and old output setting 如果A reocrd在修改output template前已輸入CDS site,於修改後再輸入B record.在site顯示 A 和 B records 格式便會不一樣. e.g. A record 有顯示keyword field, 將 “keyword field” delete於output template 刪除,再輸入B record於site內,B record便不會顯示”keyword field”.就算之後再在output template加 “keyword field”,於B record也不會顯示. –>開始都忙於如何加入新field,想到格式之後再改就好.沒有想到會有這個問題,所以來不及統一及決定最好格式便輸入.未修改前輸入record便要刪除重新輸入 2. Relationship between Search Main Tree and Logical Field
Search Main Tree 上 field, Demo的example是用MARC Tag 980 (collection)抽出document type.Search Main Tree’s fucntion應該只會這個980 field的分類. MARC tag “980″ = Logical field “collection” e.g. query: “collection:BOOK” 當初計劃將Plant record作幾分類只能想想吧了? 怎知在某個example中被我發現logic field不是用collection抽record的.於是我就在找還有什麼logical fields是可以抽field內content成為一個分類.去到Guide看看(誰也知道Guide的有時會描述上個CDS version某個function的東西,連圖片都是上個version的,要不是就是字眼太複雜,我這些頭腦簡單的人看100次也看不懂,再不然就是porgramming的東西太多,每次叫我去run command的,我都令願去想其它方法.因為run了這個command,可能又要run那個,最後可能什麼setting做了都沒有.因此我對command有太大恐懼!)被我看到.哈哈!原來可以用author抽出某作者著作,亦即是Search Main page上pull box內logical fields我都可能有機會用作抽record. 於是一試之下,我發現了原來那些MARC tag和"Logical Field"大有關連,只要在Manage Logical field’s … Continue reading

Ideas of photo output
所說的是doucument (material) type”分類”(在Search Main Page’s tree)中”照片”(Photos)呈現,而不是討論一般在各個material附帶有的照片的設定. 想法: 想把植物照片像thumb line的一排排展示出來,但系統設定每行只能有一個record (每行只能有一張Photo).於是: 1.create 1 個新output page, 然後將已入了plant photo’s path逐一在output page上輸入.當然,這違反了資料應該在sbumission page輸入的手則.因為需要輸入record才會顯示己製作好的output page (HTML page),因此會create一個record來support/display這個output page, or 2.不要thumb line!就在plant record’s create file中,除了980 PICTURE,再加1條980 PHOTO,然後在Search page內Photo設下Qurey是collection:PHOTO,令同一隻plant record在兩個document(material) type 上同時出現,但顯示格式不同.<–因為這個方法行不通,原因是系統一早就認定Plant record就是使用PCITURE output page,不可能使用其他output style 來顯示.這兩天我一直在試驗,就是在create … Continue reading

如何取得CDS網站及Google docs平台的更新資料
1. Our CDS website –>用RSS reader來收record變動情況. e.g. add a new record. 2. Google docs platform –>於Google docs platform右上方有subscribe button, 平台有任何變更時Google docs便以email告訴你. e.g.main page editing and file updating, etc.

SHOW the hyperlink
“繞路而行”是我一貫作風,尤其在programming的世界.所謂programme是死的,人腦是活的,每次遇到困難而沒法而”正道”向前行(因為我道行不高),就會用一些”可行”方法,但這些方法往往是勉強過關,我還是應該努力學習. 這次為了可以在output page同時可以放入image和URL,花了很多時間在思考,思考究竟用856來做什麼?upload image or URL? 可以 repeat856用2次的話,就可以同時用作2者 或 1個用856另1個尋找另一個marc tag輸入. 又要想想output page 如何display hyperlink,因為一般只是文字,如要hyperlink要加,但如何與meta tag結合,又是另一個問題. 最後決定了用了856 upload photo, 773u display URL, output page display表面上是成功的, 但在背後在meta tag& HTML code上我無法處理得很好. <BFE_FIELD tag="773$u" prefix="<a href=" "/> <BFE_FIELD tag="773$u" prefix="<br /> " suffix=" … Continue reading
